Beware of Fake Websites Related to Customs Declaration Procedures

Currently, overseas, fake websites impersonating Visit Japan Web and websites operated by private companies claiming to provide application assistance for Japan Customs electronic declaration procedures have been identified.
Some of these websites reportedly ask users to pay fees under the pretext of customs declaration assistance or processing charges. Please be aware that Japan Customs does not charge any fee for electronic declaration procedures required upon arrival in Japan.

Examples of cases that have actually been identified

（Fake websites）
・Users were directed to fake websites that were not the official Visit Japan Web site and were asked to pay money or provide personal information as application processing fees.

（Third-party application assistance websites）
・ Users paid fees to websites claiming to create Visit Japan Web QR codes on their behalf.

Customs Declaration Procedures Required Upon Arrival in Japan

For smoother customs procedures, Japan Customs recommends that travelers entering or returning to Japan use Visit Japan Web, a service provided by the Digital Agency, to complete electronic declarations.
Visit Japan Web is available free of charge. In addition, no payment to Japan Customs is required for customs procedures upon arrival in Japan.
