History of Osaka Customs

Birth   -The Keio Period-

 History of Osaka Customs dates back to August,1867 (the year previous to the opening of Osaka Port) when its predecessor called Kawaguchi Unjyosho was established, then it was renamed Osaka Customs 1873.

Growth  -The Meiji Period- 

 It had grown into a large government agency with the expansion of foreign trade caused by the progress in commerce and industry in Osaka area.

Development  -The Showa Period-

 Since Osaka Customs was reopened after the war, it has continued to develop according to the remarkable progress of the national economy.
To take some examples, opening of Itami Airport, large-scale development of harbours including Osaka Nanko area etc.

Flight  -The Heisei Period-

 With the opening of Japan's first around the clock "Kansai International Airport", Osaka Customs is expected to play a more important role in further development of Japan.
