 The system usage fee is a fee charged in addition to the duties and taxes being paid for when making credit card payments on the website “Customs Duties Payment by Credit Card.” The system usage fee above is not income for the government.

Q4.How much is the system usage fee?

A

 It is charged according to the amount of tax.
 Specifically, 110 yen is added as a fee when the amount of duties and taxes is less than or equal to 10,000 yen. For amounts higher than 10,000 yen, 110 yen is added every time it exceeds 10,000 yen. (Including Japanese consumption tax (JCT))

Q5.Why do users need to pay the system usage fee?

A

 The credit card payment is a procedure to entrust advanced payment by a private payment trustee designed by the Minister of Finance, and a private payment trustee pays the tax to the government.
As a result, there is a certain time lag between the payment by a payment trustee to the government and the payment by you. A payment trustee takes bad debts risks, while you gain the benefit of deferred payment.
 As the system usage fee is determined by a payment trustee in relation to the payment trustees’ risk and your benefit, you must bear the system usage fee yourself.
 Besides, the system usage fee above is not income for the government.

Q6.Do I get credit card points?

A

 Credit card points are based on the membership agreement of the credit card company. Please contact the credit card company.

Q8.Can I use multiple credit cards?

A

 You cannot use multiple credit cards for a single payment procedure.

Q9.What is the maximum amount of credit card payment?

A

 It is less than 10 million yen and less than or equal to the limit amount of your credit card (including the system usage fees).

Q10.Can I cancel the payment?

A

 In principle, you cannot cancel the payment after completion of the payment procedure.
 If you make an incorrect payment, in principle, customs will refund it at a later date. Please contact the customs office written on the notice for tax payment.
 The system usage fee above is not income for the government, so the system usage fee is not subject to a refund.

Q11.What should I do if I input incorrect information (for example, name of the taxpayer) on the website “Customs Duties Payment by Credit Card” and complete the payment procedure?

 Please contact the customs office written on the notice for tax payment when you input incorrect information (without an email address) and complete your payment procedure.

Q12.Can I change the number of payments after completion of the payment?

A

 After completion of the payment procedure, you cannot change the number of payments. Please fully confirm the number of payments is correct before making the payment.

Q13.What are the payment procedures?

A

 The basic procedures are as follows.

① Read the code on the paper presented by the officer and access the website “Customs Duties Payment by Credit Card” using your smartphone or another device.
② Input your settlement information and complete your payment.
③ Show the officer your smartphone’s screen displaying the completion of the settlement.
④ The officer checks the successful completion of your credit card payment on their system.

Q14.Can I check the payment content at a later date?

 You can check it on the “Payment content query” screen of the website “Customs Duties Payment by Credit Card.”
 Besides, your credit card statement will show the information of your credit card payment.

Q15.What is a payment procedure completion mail?

A

 After you input your email address on the input settlement information screen of the website “Customs Duties Payment by Credit Card” and complete your payment procedure, you can receive an email from the payment trustee (F-REGI Co., Ltd.) with the details of your payment procedure.
 The subject of the email is “You have completed your application using the site for Customs Duties Payment,” and it contains your payment information (settlement date, payment method, total payment, etc.).
 However, it does not contain your card number, name, and address.

Q16.Do I have to pay delinquent taxes if the withdrawal date is later than the legal due date?

A

 Delinquent taxes are calculated from the day that the payment consignment procedure is completed for credit card payments in accordance with the Customs Act, article 9-5 and Act on General Rules for National Taxes, article 34-3.
 Delinquent taxes are not charged when you complete your procedure on the website “Customs Duties Payment by Credit Card” within the due date.

Q17.Can I select an installment term?

A

 You can select lump-sum, (3, 5, 6, 10, or 12 monthly) installment, or revolving payment. When you make an installment or revolving payment, your credit card company may charge you a service fee in addition to the system usage fee. Please contact the credit card company in advance.

Q19.Can I pay the customs duties and taxes of my family?

A

Q20.When will the charge be withdrawn from my account?

A

 The date of the credit card payment is the withdrawal day based on the membership agreement of the card company. Because the withdrawal day varies depending on the company, check the use situation, date of withdrawal, etc., in the use details issued by the card company or contact the company written on the back of the card.

Q32.When is the payment procedure completion mail sent?
