Completion of the attachment training in Japan under the WCO Regional Customs Laboratory Professionals Programme 2024/2025
The Central Customs Laboratory (CCL) accepted four Customs chemists from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Zimbabwe from October 21 to November 28, 2024. Based on the requests from each chemist, the CCL conducted the tailor-made training which aimed at improving specific Customs chemical analyses by utilizing instruments in the CCL as well as learning laboratory management skills.

Since its launch in October 2013, the WCO, in cooperation with Japan Customs, has been providing the training programs intended to improve knowledge and skills in Customs chemical analysis in developing countries.

The Central Customs Laboratory (CCL) received four (4) chemists of the Department of Chemistry Malaysia from September 30 to October 4, 2024. Based on the requests from the Department, the CCL conducted the tailor-made training which aimed at improving specific Customs chemical analyses by utilizing instruments in the CCL as well as learning laboratory management skills.
(Note) The Department of Chemistry Malaysia provides scientific analysis, investigation and consultancy to government agencies in Malaysia based on their requests.
The Central Customs Laboratory (CCL) received 20 participants in the Workshop on Customs Laboratory for Bangladesh Customs as an international activity under customs technical cooperation. In addition to the CCL’s overview, the CCL explained infrastructure of Customs analysis such as Legal framework, Organizational structure, Safety management, and Human resource management of Japan Customs Analysis toward the establishment of the CCL in Bangladesh.
The Central Customs Laboratory (CCL) received 10 participants in the Workshop on Customs Laboratory for Malaysian Customs as an international activity under customs technical cooperation. In addition to the CCL’s overview, the CCL explained infrastructure of Customs analysis such as Legal framework, Organizational structure, Safety management, and Human resource management of Japan Customs Analysis toward the establishment of Malaysian Customs Laboratory.
The Central Customs Laboratory (CCL) received a visit of 10 participants (note) in WCO Career Development Programme, as an international activity under the customs technical cooperation. The CCL explained about its overview and the importance of Customs analysis, followed by demonstrations of analytical equipment and inspection equipment in the CCL laboratory building.

The Central Customs Laboratory (CCL) received 5 participants in the Workshop on Customs Laboratory for Kenya Revenue Authority as an international activity under customs technical cooperation. In addition to explaining CCL’s overview, the CCL conducted the practical training which aimed at improving their skills and knowledge of Customs chemical analyses based on the requests from the trainees.
