  • If the total value of the contents is under 200,000 yen
For items that do not fall under the regulated items mentioned above, no special procedures are required.
You can send your parcels from any post office. Please fill in the Customs Declaration Form at the post office and attach it to the parcels. However, items that require customs confirmation at the time of export or that fall under the Export Trade Control Order, etc., should be inspected in advance at the nearest customs office before being sent by mail.
If the mail is sent out without being inspected by Customs, it may not be eligible for tax-refund or exemption/reduction of duties and taxes, or it may not fulfill the requirements of the law (cannot be imported or exported).

  • If the total value of the contents exceeds 200,000 yen
An export declaration to Customs is required. Please prepare the necessary documents for the export declaration, such as the invoice, and request a customs broker (ex: Japan Post Co., Ltd.) to complete the export customs clearance procedures, or file the export declaration with Customs by yourself.
If you wish to delegate export clearance procedures to Japan Post Co., Ltd., please inform Japan Post of this when you send the mail. A customs broker fee will be charged.

If you wish to make your own declaration, please contact the customs office where you will make your export declaration for the specific procedures.

*In all cases, please make sure that the name of the item, amount, etc. on the Customs Declaration Form to be attached to the parcel is accurate, and prepare the invoice.
