Are there procedures sending items back as claimed goods, or sending for repair for future import?

When sending items back as claimed merchandise due to a breach of the transaction contract, or dispatching items to be repaired abroad for future import via international mail, should I follow any specific procedures?

1. If the items are to be returned as claimed merchandise and you wish to have the duties and taxes refunded:
Since it is necessary to undergo customs confirmation when exporting, if you are returning items by mail, please visit the nearest customs office, present the items to be returned, and have them inspected in advance.

2. If the items are to be exported for processing/repair and you wish to apply for exemption/reduction of duties and taxes when re-importing:
Procedures are required at the time of export. When exporting by mail, please bring the items to the nearest customs office and make a declaration in advance with the necessary documents, such as the “Commitment Form of (Contracts for) Repair”, etc.

There are some cases other than the above procedures, where you will need to follow specific procedures and receive verification at Customs before sending items by international mail.
