Revision of the base year of Trade Indexes and update previous data

On August 19, 2013 (press release of the trade statistics (July 2013 (Provisional)), the base year of Trade Indexes will be revised from Year 2005 to Year 2010. Revision of the base year has been conducted every five years.

The revised data will also be available in the web-site (search page etc.) on August 29, 2013.

In connection with the revision, previous data of Trade Indexes will be updated based on the new base year.

The methods are as follows:

(1) Time series data (Yearly) of Trade Indexes

Revised data from 1960 will be published.

Data from 1960 to 2009 will be updated based on coefficients calculated by comparing indexes of the previous and the new base year sector by sector.

Data from 2010 will be re-computed based on indexes of the new base year as 100.

Time series data (Yearly) of Trade Indexes (World) from 1960 to 2012 will be published on August 29, 2013.

(2) Time series data (Monthly) of Trade Indexes

Revised data from January 1998 will be published.

Data from January 1998 to December 2009 will be updated based on coefficients calculated by comparing indexes of the previous and the new base year sector by sector.

Data from January 2010 will be re-computed based on indexes of the new base year as 100.

Trade Indexes will be published on August 29, 2013.

Note :"EU" covers all 28-members in the data.
