3102 Importation of Salt (FAQ)
Anyone intending to import salt for personal sale or use as provided for in the Salt Industry Law must do the following procedures.
| 1. | Anyone intending to import salt for sale (including personal use) is required to file registration as a Specified Wholesaler of Salt with the Director-General of customs. | |
| 2. | Anyone intending to sell salt for specific purposes is required to file notification as a Specified Wholesaler of Special-use Salt with the Director-General of customs. In this case, a Special-use Salt means: | |
| （1） | Salt categorized as quasi-drug or cosmetics as provided for in the Article 2 of the Controlled Substance Act; |
| （2） | Sodium chloride reagent; |
| （3） | Salt used as a culture medium for bacteria in study and research, etc., and salt solely used for academic research or education; |
| （4） | Salt used only as a catalyst in the copper plating process, etc. |
| （5） | Salt which comes in the form of a block, such as a cube or globe that contains metallic components like zinc, iron, etc.; |
| （6） | Salt with a sodium chloride content of 60% or less; and the sodium chloride cannot be easily separated from other components; and |
| （7） | Salt sold to designated buyers on a trial basis, with annual sales less than 100 tons. |
