4002Elimination of Tariff on Imported Goods under the Japan-Singapore Economic Partnership Agreement

Singapore eliminated tariffs altogether at the time of the entry into force of the agreement.

Japan eliminates or reduces tariffs gradually according to a schedule and in a number of phases.

In addition to the above, the following categories are added with the increase in the number of items subject to tariff elimination under the amended Protocol.

EImmediate tariff elimination on January 1, 2008
F5Gradual tariff reduction in six steps, with the first implemented on January 1, 2008. Thereafter, tariff is reduced in five steps each year on April 1, until elimination on April 1, 2012.
F6Gradual tariff reduction in seven steps, with the first implemented on January 1, 2008. Thereafter, tariff is reduced in six steps each year on April 1, until elimination on April 1, 2013.
F7Gradual tariff reduction in eight steps, with the first implemented on January 1, 2008. Thereafter, tariff is reduced in seven steps each year on April 1, until elimination on April 1, 2014.
F10Gradual tariff reduction in 11 steps, with the first implemented on January 1, 2008. Thereafter, tariff is reduced in 10 steps each year on April 1, until elimination on April 1, 2017.
F15Gradual tariff reduction in 16 steps, with the first implemented on January 1, 2008. Thereafter, tariff is reduced in 15 steps each year on April 1, until elimination on April 1, 2022.
PGradual tariff reduction in six steps, with the first implemented on January 1, 2008. Thereafter, tariff is reduced in five steps each year on April 1, until it reaches 14.9% on April 1, 2012.
