  • Statistical code (9 digits)

In Japan, 9-digit statistical codes are used in the Customs declarations, and in this website, "Commodity" means the items based on this 9-digit statistical code.

The 9-digit statistical code consists of 6-digit HS code and 3-digit domestic code. 6-digit HS codes are internationally harmonized under the HS Convention (International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System) and that of export and import are same. Therefore, the statistical(tariff) codes of foreign countries are just the same as those of Japan at the 6-digit level. The 3-digit domestic codes for exports and imports are not always the same. Therefore, the statistical code books for exports and imports are different.

On the website, 9-digit statistical code books are available.
