Customs inspects parcels in the presence of a Japan Post Co., Ltd. representative.

Customs inspects parcels with great care to prevent damage and restore items in their original condition.
However, if items are damaged during a customs inspection, we will immediately contact the recipient directly.

If there is no notification from Customs and your package is damaged when you receive it, this is considered to have been damaged during delivery.
Please contact the delivery post office immediately to receive confirmation.

Please note that even if you have already paid duties and taxes on the mail received, you may be able to reduce the taxes if the post office determines that the value of the item has been significantly impaired during its confirmation.
Please contact Tokyo Overseas Mail Sub-branch Customs once you have completed the procedures at the delivery post office and have received a “Witness inspection Report” or other documents.
