Parcels that were supposed to have duties and taxes imposed were delivered without them
Q Parcels that were supposed to have duties and taxes imposed were delivered without any duties and taxes.
What should I do?
A In such cases, please inform the mail carrier that the item should be subject to duty and taxes and that you would like it to be returned to the international post office for (re-)inspection by Customs, so to hold your mail pickup.
Please also contact Tokyo Overseas Mail Sub-branch Customs.
Customs is committed to fair, appropriate and prompt taxation. However, if the price on the Customs Declaration Form or price documents attached to the parcel is unclear or inaccurate, it may cause errors in taxation or require inquiries to the recipient regarding the contents of the parcel, which may result in a lengthy customs clearance process.
When importing mail, please request that the sender list a clear and accurate price or attach price documents.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Additionally, if you have already received the parcel requires pay duties and taxes, please do not throw away Customs Declaration Form and price documents attached to the parcel, but keep them and contact Tokyo Overseas Mail Sub-branch Customs.
