26. Gun Parts or Accessories

Among the mail that has arrived, there are gun parts or accessories that appear to fall under the Firearms and Swords Possession Control Law.

These items may not be imported without the approval of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, in accordance with the provisions of Import Trade Control Policy.

If you already have approval, please bring or mail the original to Tokyo Overseas Mail Sub-branch Customs.

When sending by mail, please be sure to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.

If you do not have approval, please refer to the Import Approval Required Inquiry Form (Weapons) on the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry website to confirm whether or not approval is required.

Those who have received a response that procedures are required should complete the necessary procedures at the Trade Control Policy Division, Trade Control Department, Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and submit the issued Import Approval (original) to Tokyo Overseas Mail Sub-branch Customs by bringing or mailing it.

When sending by mail, please be sure to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.

If you have received a response that no procedures are required, please inform Tokyo Overseas Mail Sub-branch Customs of the reason why no procedures are required and the name of the person in charge of the Trade Control Policy Division.

If you do not have a Permission to Possess Firearms/Swords or you are unable to obtain an Import Approval, please contact Tokyo Overseas Mail Sub-branch Customs for information on the subsequent procedures.
