Food Sanitation law

The postal parcel addressed to you is temporarily being held at Japan Post Co.,Ltd. Tokyo International Branch because it contains an item that is subject for the control under the Food Sanitation Law.

 

When food and related products are imported from abroad to Japan through the postal services for the purpose of sales or for use in business, an import notification must be submitted according to the Food Sanitation Law.  The “food related products” here include foods, additives, apparatuses, containers/ packages and toys for infants.  Please inform the following office of the detail of the parcel and confirm what you have to do for the importation.  Then, please inform Customs of the result of the examination at the Quarantine Station.  If you are not sure about the detail (quantity, ingredients etc.) of the item concerned, please confirm the item at the Tokyo Branch Customs for Overseas Mail.

If you have a granted import notification   

 

Please fill in the returnable post card (located at the bottom of the arrival notice) with your name, address and telephone number (where you can be reached between the hours of 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays), and mail it with the granted import notification. 

 

 If you do not need to submit import notification

 

Please fill in and mail the returnable post card (located at the bottom of the arrival notice) with your name, address and telephone number (where you can be reached between the hours of 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays).  On the post card, please write clearly the following as well 

 

-Name of officer of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare you consulted

 

-The reason why the above-mentioned officer notified you that you do not have to submit the import notification
