(Procedure for import/export declaration)
[ Summary]
- Goods to be imported require an import permit before being withdrawn into Japan. However, if it is likely to take considerable time to determine a taxation price or an applicable tariff rate on goods, the intended importer may apply for the withdrawal of the goods before obtaining an import permit through this procedure.
Note that if the applicant intends to withdraw goods after submitting an import declaration and yet before obtaining an import permit, the applicant is required to provide a guarantee equivalent to the tax to customs.

- The applicant is required to submit the following declaration to the customs section of the customs office having jurisdiction over the hozei area where the goods are stored.

- There is no fee. However, the applicant is required to provide a guarantee equivalent to the amount of tax to customs.

- Customs does not approve an import permit for import-prohibited goods or for goods whose import procedure is required by a law or order other than the customs-related laws, but that procedure has not been completed.
