Revise "base year" for Trade Indexes, and update previous data

From press release on November 20, 2008, the base year of Trade Indexes has been revised from Year 2000 to Year 2005. Revisions of the base year have been conducted every five years.

The revised data is now available at “Tables of Trade Statistics (data download)” section in this web-site.

In connection with the revision, previous data of Trade Indexes has been updated based on the new base year.

The methods are as follows:

 

(1) Time series data (Year) of Trade Indexes

Publish revised data from 1960.

Data from 1960 to 2004 has been updated based on coefficients calculated by comparing indexes of the previous and the new base year sector by sector.

Data from 2005 has been re-computed based on indexes of the new base year as 100.

 

(2) Time series data (Month) of Trade Indexes

Publish revised data from January, 2003.

Data from January, 2003 to December, 2004 has been updated based on coefficients calculated by comparing indexes of the previous and the new base year sector by sector.

Data from January, 2005 has been re-computed based on indexes of the new base year as 100.

Note : In this data, "EU" covers all 27-members.
