Unaccompanied Baggage

The postal matter addressed to you is temporarily being held at Japan Post Co.,Ltd. Tokyo international Branch because the parcel appears to be an unaccompanied baggage and qualifies for exemption from import duty and taxes.

Is the postal matter declared unaccompanied baggage?  If you have a declaration form granted by Customs at the port of arrival, please submit it to us.  The duty will be exempted within the duty free allowance.  Even if you have not declared the unaccompanied baggage, please inform us that you do not have a declaration form.  (After your entry into Japan, you cannot declare unaccompanied baggage.)

See below how to comply with Customs.

If you have declared the unaccompanied baggage:

Please submit your Unaccompanied Baggage Declaration Form with the returnable post card (located at the bottom of the arrival notice) with your name, address and telephone number (where you can be reached between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays).  If you have any further unaccompanied baggage, you have to submit the original of the granted “Unaccompanied Baggage Declaration Form” at each import.  Therefore, please remember to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope when you send the Unaccompanied Baggage Declaration Form.  If you do not have any further unaccompanied baggage, please state that on the post card.

If you have not declared the unaccompanied baggage:

Please notify Customs that you have not declared.  The baggage will be treated as a general imported cargo.
