Summary of Advance Filing Rules on Cargo Information

1 Person who shall report
Consignees to import cargo: those who import cargo of which master of the vessel or captain of the aircraft reports the information in advance under the Paragraph 1 or 7, Article 15 of the Customs Law, or nominal ones.

2 Time to report
When Customs requires a consignee above to file the cargo information, the person shall submit it without delay.

3 Items to report
Consignees above shall file following items of the cargo which master of the vessel or captain of the aircraft reports the information in advance under the Paragraph 1 or 7, Article 15 of the Customs Law:
(1) Shipping location and destination of cargo
(2) Marks, numbers, name and quantity of goods
(3) Address or place of residence, name or appellation and telephone number of consigner and consignee

4 Penalties
Any person who fails to file cargo information required by Customs or makes false report shall be liable to imprisonment with labor for up to a maximum period of one year or a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand yen.

June 1, 2007
