The Electronic Customs Declaration Gate System (e-Gate) is operating exclusively at the Narita Airport Terminal 3 (Narita T3). Starting August 27, 2019, all passengers with IC passports is able to use the e-Gate at the Narita T3.

With the e-Gate, passengers are able to submit the "Declaration of Personal Effects and Unaccompanied Articles" (the Declaration) electronically while waiting for checked baggage, without needing to submit the Declaration in paper.
