9602 Business Hours for Customs Offices

  1. Business Hours for Customs Offices

Starting in April 2008, the head of each customs office has established "business hours for customs offices," which are announced on their websites, etc.

During business hours, customs procedures may be conducted without advance reservation.

Business hours for most customs offices and branches are from 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM (or 5:45 PM) on weekdays. However, there are customs offices that are open on a 24/7 basis, such as the customs office at the Tokyo international Airport in Narita. For details, please check the website of each customs office or contact each office.

  2. Customs procedures during hours other than the business hours for customs offices

For customs procedures during hours other than the business hours for customs offices, the "Report Seeking Execution of Procedures Outside Business Hours" (Customs Form C-8000) is to be submitted in two copies during business hours.

Starting on April 1, 2008, handling charges for extraordinary office opening, which were necessary for customs procedures outside business hours, are no longer necessary.
