4045: Overview of the Elimination or Reduction in Tariffs under the Japan-Monogolia Economic Partnership Agreement(FAQ)


Based on the Japan-Mongolia EPA, the tariff is scheduled to be eliminated approximately 96% of the value of the trade between the two countries (approximately 96% of exports from Japan and 100% of imports from Mongolia) within 10 years from the entry into force of the agreement.

Ⅰ.Agriculture, forestry and fisheries

1. Japan's key commitments

・Immediate tariff elimination: Part of dog or cat food, put up for retail sale
・Gradual tariff elimination: Triticale flour, Sunflower-seed oil
・Tariff rate quota: Cheese, Natural honey

2. Mongolia’s  key commitments

・Immediate tariff elimination: Cut flowers, Apples, Pears
・Gradual tariff elimination: Soybean paste, Vinegar

 

Ⅱ.Mining and industrial products

1.Japan's key commitments

Almost of the tariffs for mining and industrial products imported into Japan are gradually eliminated within 10 years.

2.Mongolia’s key commitments

・Immediate tariff elimination: Vehicles up to 4500 cc (“period following the production is zero-to-three-years”), Flat-rolled products of iron (cold-rolled (cold-reduced))
・Gradual tariff elimination: Copper and articles, Parts and accessories of the motor
Vehicles (Parts suitable for the engines, Steering wheels etc.)
