1406: Foreign Exchange Rate for Conversion of Currency

In calculating the Customs value of the imported goods, the foreign currency amount must be converted to Japanese currency using the foreign exchange rate valid on the day of import declaration.

The applicable rates are based on average of the market rates for the week of two weeks before the day of import declaration, which are published by the Director-generals of regional Customs on a weekly basis.

The weekly foreign exchange rates are available on the Customs website at: http://www.customs.go.jp/english/kawase/index_e.htm
