Outline of the Central Customs Laboratory

The Central Customs Laboratory (CCL) of the Ministry of Finance is a facility that provides chemical analysis services on the request of Customs, the Customs and Tariff Bureau and the World Customs Organization (WCO). The facility's services are used to help Customs determine the duties on imported goods and expose smuggling, and to contribute to international cooperation.

CCL operations are focused on "requested analysis," "technical guidance," and "research and development," and our highly sophisticated knowledge and technology support customs analysis not only in Japan but also on a global basis.
